Tondo District Manila, Philippines

Tondo is a district located in Manila, Philippines. It is the largest in terms of area and population of Manila’s fourteen districts, with a Census-estimated 628,106 people in 2010. It is also the most densely populated district in the city.

But more than anything, Tondo has literally become a symbol of extreme poverty in the world today!

“We must vigorously talk about the eradication of poverty,” said in 2007 former President Arroyo before Tondo residents, many of whom, particularly those residing around the former Smokey Mountain dump, had come to symbolise the poorest of the poor in the country.

Threefold Christian Alliance has established a solid working relationship with a network of leaders in the Philippines, thus giving our advocates from around the world the opportunity to become part of a student sponsorship program that provides educational support and spiritual growth initiatives for children trapped in extreme poverty.
